(CIAT)
The possibility of substituting maize with fresh cassava or CM plus a protein supplement in rations for growing and finishing pigs was studied on the basis of 2 expt, estimating the possible profits that could be obtained with different prices of cassava in comparison with those of maize. According to the analysis of difference variations in expt I, there were no significant differences in wt gain among the diets. In expt II, there were significant differences between sex and wt gain among the 4 diets. According to the economic analysis, greater relative profits were obtained with the utilization of cassava than with maize. When the unit price of CM is equal to or less than maize, the latter can be substituted by CM. (CIAT)
