Diagnóstico da cultura da mandioca en pequenas propriedades do município de Rio Azul, estado do Paraná

Nevertheless, almost there are not studies of characterization of its productive process, at level of property. In the municipality of Rio Azul, Paraná, were: interviewed in 1985, nine typical small farmers, in order to evaluate mainly limiting factors to production and to productivity. For that purpose, it was made use of a simplified questionary, as part of the arming system in IAPAR. So, it was concluded itself there not be significative differences among farmers concerning cassava production. The cultivated areas had less than 2400M(2), almost always without rotation of culture. Were not used liming, fertilization, or inputs. In spite of cassava's operations concentrate in period of greater demand of hand labor in establishment, the ample period (August until September) did with what the cultivation has compete much in the use of the hand labor. Two cultivations were made being usual the use of cultivator of animal traction in the first one. The harvesting happened during all the year, with two cycles cassava. The production was consumed in its majority in animal alimentation. Being this study limited to small properties one could conclude there is a necessity of a more ample diagnostic in the region, studying the mentioned problems with more details, mainly in referring to aspects of the objectives of the farmer.
