La adopción de la variedad negro huasteco 81 en las huastecas de México

Este trabajo trató de determinar el impacto de la variedad mejorada de frijol Negro Huasteco 81. Fue liberada por INIA en el año de 1982 para la región de las Huastecas. La variedad se ha difundido bien y se siembra en un 30 por ciento del área bajo fríjol. Los beneficios asociados a la adopción de Negro Huasteco 81 suman US 00000 en el año del estudio. El éxito de de Negro Huasteco no sólo se debe a su tolerancia al mosaico dorado, sino a su comportamiento fitosanitario en general y a su relativa capacidad de aguantar sequía. Las prácticas culturales no cambiaron de forma significativa por haber adoptado Negro Huasteco 81. Disponibilidad de semilla, ha sido el principal limitante para mayor adpción. Se aconseja ampliar el área de difusión de la variedad.

The present research tries to define the impact of the improved bean variety Negro Huasteco 81. This variety was released by INIA in 1982 for the Huastecas region. The variety diffused well and is now planted on 30 percent of the bean area. Associated benefits are around US 00000 for the year of study. The success of Negro Hnasteco was not only caused by its tolerance to Bean Golden Mosaic Virus, but also by its overall fytosanitary performance and its ability to stand droucght. Cultural practices did not change significantly because of the adoption of Negro Huasteco 81. Seed availability has been a principal constraint to higher adoption. The authors suggest to increase the area of diffusion.
