Con el objetivo de identificar genotipos de frijol con adaptación a suelos pobres en fósforo, se establecieron dos experimentos con 36 materiales de diversos orígenes, en Chapingo, Méx. (19 grados 20'N, 2240 msnm y 640 mm de precipitación anual). Los genotipos se evaluaron en dos dosis de fertilización fosfatada,15 y 80 unidades de P205/ha en 1994 y 0 y 80 en 1995. En 1994 no hubo diferencias entre dosis de fertilización para rendimiento. Los genotipos Bayo Zacatecas II, A 800, Pinto Villa y G 5141 mostraron los más altos rendimientos con la dosis baja de fósforo. En 1995 se encontraron diferencias significativas (P menor que 0.01) entre dosis de fertilización, genotipos y su interacción para la acumulación de materia seca en la etapa R6, rendimiento de grano, índice de cosecha y peso del grano (P menor que 0.01). Se observó una relación positiva (r=0.58**) entre los días a floración y la acumulación de materia seca. Lo anterior sugiere la necesidad de agrupar genotipos de similar precocidad y hábito de crecimiento para su comparación. En la dosis baja de fósforo, los genotipos Pinto Villa, Manzano y G 3585 obtuvieron los más altos rendimientos y también los más altos índices de eficiencia. Los resultados señalan la existencia de amplia variación entre genotipos de frijol en producción de materia seca y grano en suelos con moderada disponibilidad de fósforo |

With the aim of identifying bean genotypes adapted to soils with low P availability, two trials were established with 36 genotypes at Chapingo, Mex. (19 degrees 20' N,2240 m.a.s.l. and 640 annual precipitation). Bean genotypes were grown under two levels of P fertilization, 15 and 80 units of P205/ha in 1994, and 0 and 80 united of P205/ha in 1995. In 1994 there was not difference between P dosis. Genotypes Bayo Zacatecas II, A 800, Pinto Villa an G 5141 showed highest yields under low P. In 1995 there were significative differences (P less than 0.01) among P dosis, genotypes and their interaction for biomass at R6, seed yield, harwest index and seed mass at maturity. A positive relation ship was observed between day to flowering and biomass accumulation (r= 0.58**). This strongly suggests the grouping of genotypes or the basis of phenology and growth habit for comparison. Genotypes Pinto Villa, Manzano and G 3585 showed highest yields under low P. Results indicated the availability of wide genetic variation in common bean for dry matter and seed yield in soils with low P content |
