Se describen algunas caracteristicas de la leguminosa forrajera Lablab niger (L. purpureus) cv. Rongai y se presentan resultados de estudios realizados en Cuba con esta leguminosa en asociacion con King grass. En un expt. las producciones de MS y forraje fresco de L. purpureus cv. Rongai + King grass (8.96 y 50.39 t/ha) superaron a las de Clitoria ternatea + King grass (7.59 y 48.13 t/ha) y de King grass solo (7.68 y 45.70 t/ha). En otros expt. tambien fueron superiores los contenidos de MS (18.07 t/ha) y PC (1.95 por ciento) de Rongai + King grass comparado con los de King grass asociado con C. ternatea, Vigna sp. o Phasolus helvolus, y King grass con y sin N. Para evaluar la calidad y el valor nutritivo de Rongai se utilizo como cultivo puro en 5 expt. con carneros. El contenido de MS estuvo entre 16-25 por ciento, mientras que la PC vario de 12-17 por ciento. (CIAT) |
