En agosto de 1990, se estableció un experimento en un Ultisol arenofrancoso, del sector Mayagua, al sureste de Ciudad Bolívar, Venezuela, a fin de evaluar la adaptabilidad de 20 ecotipos de leguminosas y seis de gramíneas forrajeras utilizando las recomendaciones metodológicas del CIAT. Se utilizó un diseño de bloques al azar con tres repeticiones. Se hicieron evaluaciones cada ocho semanas. Los resultados de la producción total de biomasa aérea en base seca (MS) y promedio de las otras variables obtenidas desde Agosto 1991 a Junio 1992, se analizaron en dos grupos: máxima y mínima precipitación. Durante la época de lluvias las leguminosas con mayor producción de MS (P menor que 0,05) fueron Stylosanthes capitata CIAT 10280 (687,5 g MS/m(2)) y S. guianensis CIAT 10136 (661,5 g MS/m(2)). Andropogon gayanus mostró el mejor comportamiento (1769,0 g MS/m(2)) entre las gramíneas (P menor que 0,05). No hubo diferencias en la producción total de MS durante la sequía entre ecotipos de leguminosas, con una disminución del 77 por ciento respecto a las lluvias, con mejor adaptación de S. guianensis CIAT 10136. Las producciones de Brachiaria brizantha CIAT 26646 (442,6 g MS/m(2)) y A. gayanus CIAT 621 (376,0 g/MS/m(2)), fueron superiores a las otras gramíneas (P menor que 0,01) |

In August 1990, an experiment was planted on Ultisol at the sector Mayagua, southeast of Ciudad Bolivar, Venezuela, in order to evaluate the adaptation of 20 legumes and 6 grasses ecotypes; following the RIEPT-CIAT methodology. It was used a randomized block design with three replications. Evaluations were made every eight weeks. The results of total dry matter (DM) productions and the means of the other variables, from August 1991 to June 1992, were analyzed in two groups of both, maximum and minimum precipitation. During the raining season, the legumes with higher production of DM were Stylosanthes capitata CIAT 10280 (687.5 g DM/m(2)) and S. guianensis CIAT 10136 (661.5 g DM/(m)2). The grass with better behavior (P less than 0,05) was Andropogon gayanus (1769.00 g DM/m(2)). Differences were not found during the dry season for DM production and it dinished in 92 percent. S. guianensis CIAT 10136, had the best adaptation. The grasses Brachiaria brizantha CIAT 26646 (442.6 g DM/m(2)) and Andropogon gayanus CIAT 621 (376.0 g DM/m(2)) were superior to the other grasses (P less than 0.01) |
