Se compararon 4 lineas mejoradas de Digitaria, H10, X46-2, X125- 1 y 299892 con el cv. Slenderstem con respecto a su comportamiento agronomico, habilidad de rebrote, contenido de minerales y persistencia de las pasturas bajo pastoreo continuo, a una alta tasa de carga equivalente a 7.5 animales/ha en un diseno de cuadrado latino. El cv. Slenderstem, con la menor relacion hoja:tallo, mantuvo la mejor cobertura de pasto del suelo (26 por ciento) y alcanzo la tasa de rebrote mas rapida (66 kg/ha/dia). Las lineas mejoradas 299892 y X46-2, con las mayores relaciones hoja:tallo, fueron las de mayor follaje y palatabilidad. El comportamiento de la linea H10 fue bueno, presentando el mayor no. de macollas (60 macollas en 4 meses) y la mejor tasa de supervivencia (25 por ciento) registrada al finalizar el ensayo. La linea X125-1 fue deficiente y no solamente tuvo una escasa capacidad de rendimiento (21 por ciento menos que Slenderstem) sino tambien una baja persistencia. No se observaron diferencias en el contenido mineral entre o dentro de lineas en cosechas diferentes, pero todas las lineas poseian suficientes nutrimentos para el animal en crecimiento. (RA-CIAT) |
