Se describe un modelo interactivo de sistema de produccion animal. El componente de produccion de carne se basa en el modelo de Kahn. La estructura del modelo es flexible y permite pastoreo por grupos, rotacional y de recursos multiples. En el modelo los animales pueden ser rechazados, destetados, vendidos o comprados segun se requiera, o se pueden implantar reglas de decision. Se describe el trabajo de validacion del modelo realizado en condiciones de Colombia. Se examino la sensibilidad del modelo respecto a cambios pequenos en parametros importantes. El modelo reacciona razonablemente a cambios en el plan de nutricion a los niveles predominantes de calidad del forraje. El componente forrajero se refiere a mezclas de gramineas-leguminosas; esta basado en un pequeno no. de funciones, y esta pendiente su validacion. Los modulos economicos generan un flujo de caja y criterios usuales para la evaluacion de inversiones. Para cualquier simulacion particular se pueden hacer analisis economicos para investigar los efectos de cambios en el precio o en otros parametros economicos.
