Durante dos anos se realizaron 282 observaciones en areas forrajeras de la provincia de La Habana, para garantizar los factores principales que afectan la produccion de forraje. La informacion fue dividida en: nivel de nitrogeno (60, 76 y mas de 76 kg/ha/corte), especies Pennisetum purpureum x Pennisetum thyphoides (king grass), Cynodon nlemfuensis (pasto estrella jamaicano) y C. dactylon (bermuda cruzada No. 1), edad (menor que 60, 75 y mayor que 75 dias), con riego y sin el y meses del ano. En king grass, para todas las edades, el nivel de 76 kg de N mostro los mas altos rendimientos. La bermuda cruzada No. 1 necesito niveles superiores a 76 kg de N y no mostro respuesta aparente a la edad de corte. En pasto estrella jamaicano hay una marcada relacion entre la frecuencia de corte y el nitrogeno aplicado necesitando el mas alto nivel de N a las edades de cortes menores. El patron estacional de rendimiento fue diferente en las tres especies, encontrandose el optimo de abril a octubre en king grass, de mayo a agosto en bermuda cruzada No. 1 y la mas amplia respuesta estacional que abarco de febrero a octubre la presento el pasto estrella jamaicano, teniendo una caida muy marcada en el mes de agosto.
