Se realizo un estudio en Vicosa (Brasil) con la variedad de frijol (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) Rico 23 para determinar la madurez fisiologica, germinacion y vigor de las semillas cosechadas en diferentes periodos despues de la fertilizacion del ovulo. Las yemas florales se marcaron y sus vainas se cosecharon despues de la fertilizacion del ovulo a intervalos de 48 horas durante 60 dias. Se considero que la fertilizacion del ovulo ocurre durante la apertura de las flores. Se determino que la madurez de la semilla ocurre durante los 40 y 54 dias despues de la fertilizacion del ovulo. Durante este periodo, las semillas presentan un contenido de humedad de 30-40 por ciento. Las pruebas de semilla inmediatamente despues de cosechadas, mostraron que se presenta alguna germinacion 20 dias despues de la fertilizacion del ovulo, con un maximo despues de 38 dias. Semillas previamente secadas presentaron germinacion 30 dias despues de la fertilizacion, con un maximo despues de 34 dias. Las semillas exhibieron algun vigor 30 dias despues de la fertilizacion del ovulo, con un maximo despues de 38 dias. A study was carried out in Vicosa (Brazil) with the bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) variety Rico 23 to determine the physiological maturation, germination and vigor of seeds harvested at different periods after ovule fertilization. Floral buds were tagged and their pods harvested after ovule fertilization at 48-h intervals for 60 days. Ovule fertilization was considered to take place during flower opening. It was found that seed maturation takes place from 40-54 days after ovule fertilization. During this period the seeds have 30-40 percent moisture content. When tested immediately after harvest, the seeds showed some germination 20 days after ovule fertilization, reaching a maximum after 38 days. Previously dried seeds showed germination 30 days after fertilization, attaining a maximum after 34 days. Thirty days after ovule fertilization, seeds exhibited some vigor, reaching the maximum after 38 days. Considerable vigor loss started 50 days after fertilization. The results showed that the periods of physiological maturation, maximum vigor and maximum germination are practically coincident in the bean variety tested. (AS) |
