Se realizaron estudios para determinar la profundidad de la raiz como un parametro del campo para el diseno y el manejo del riego en cultivos de frijol y trigo. Se realizo un trabajo de campo durante el invierno de 1989 en un suelo podzolico, bajo riego por pivote central, en la Estacion Exptl. de Votuporanga, Instituto Agronomico de Campinas (Sao Paulo, Brasil). El agua se aplico cuando la tension de agua de suelo fue 0.05 a 0.06 MPa, a 15 cm de profundidad, controlada por tensiometro. Se hicieron 3 mediciones de raices en cada cultivo a intervalos de 15 dias. En cada caso, se tomaron 5 muestras de replicacion, dentro de la hilera de siembra, hasta una profundidad de 60 cm, a intervalos de 10 cm, empleando una barrena de 7 cm de diametro. Los resultados indicaron que las profundidade efectivas de la raiz para emplear en la practica de riego fueron 30 y 40 cm para el frijol y el trigo resp. (RA-CIAT) |

Studies aiming to determine the root depth as a field parameter for irrigation designs and managements were carried out on beans and wheat crops. A field work was conducted during the winter of 1989 in a podzolic soil, under central pivot irrigation, at the Experiment Station of Votuporanga, Instituto Agronomico de Campinas, State of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Water was applied whenever soil water tension was 0.05 to 0.06 MPa, at 15 cm depth, controlled by tensiometer. Three root measurements were made in each crop, with 15 days interval. In each case, five replication samples were taken, within planting row, up to 60 cm depth at 10 cm intervals using an auger of 7 cm diameter. The results indicated that the effective root depth for using in irrigation practice were 30 and 40 cm, respectively, for field beans and wheat. (AS) |
