Summary: A brief revision of the importance of the nutrients N, P, K, Mg, and Ca in cassava and their symptoms of deficiency is given. The tissue of 2 common var., Blanca and Rosada, is analyzed and its feed value determined. Results of screening trials of the useful elements for cassava are given in table form for yield trials (responses to Mn, Mo, N, P, K, Ca, Mg) and root density (response to K). Information is also included on favorable ecological conditions for cassava cultivation, fertilization (manures, organic manures), results of fertilization trials carried out in different countries (Brazil, Costa Rica, Ghana, Nigeria, India, Vietnam, Viti Islands) and resulting recommendations.
