Se presentan los resultados de un estudio socioeconomico y de mercadeo de yuca en Filipinas con base en datos oficiales de produccion y en la encuesta a 106 productores de yuca y 40 compradores localizados en las areas de Katipunan, Polanco, Sinuyak y Dipolog City en Zamboanga del Norte, Ipil, Molave, Midsalip, Tukuran, Labangan, San Pablo, San Miguel, Dumalinao, Aurora, Ramon Magsaysay y Pagadian City en Zamboanga del Sur, y en los barrios de Tungawan, Lubigan y Tarlangit en Zamboanga City. En el area socioeconomica se detalla la tenencia de la tierra, la edad, el tamano de los hogares, la educacion, la ocupacion de la mujer y de otros miembros (incluyendo ninos) del hogar, aspectos referentes a la casa de habitacion e indicadores del nivel de vida de los productores. En cuanto a produccion, se indican las var. cultivadas, los rendimientos, los componentes del costo (mano de obra, inversiones, fertilizantes quimicos) y origen de los ingresos. En los aspectos de mercadeo se discuten el vol. vendido, el tipo de producto (yuca fresca, seca, molida y cocida), precios recibidos, practicas anteriores a la venta y costos, inversiones de mercadeo y costo, los intermediarios, canales de mercadeo y la disponibilidad de servicios y facilidades (credito, asistencia tecnica y problemas asociados). The results of a cassava socioeconomic and marketing study in the Philippines are presented, based on official production data and on a survey among 106 cassava producers and 40 buyers located in the areas of Katipunan, Polanco, Sinuyak, and Dipolog City in North Zamboanga; Ipil, Molave, Midsalip, Tukuran, Labangan, San Pablo, San Miguel, Dumalinao, Aurora, Ramon Magsaysay, and Pagadian City in South Zamboanga; and in the districts of Tungawan, Lubigan, and Tarlangit in Zamboanga City. The socioeconomic part describes land tenure, age and size of households, education, occupation of women and other members of the household (including children), aspects referring to the dwelling itself, and indicators of life status of the producers. Regarding production, discussion covers cultivated var., yields, cost components (labor, investment, chemical fertilizers), and origin of incomes. Marketing aspects include vol. sold, type of product (fresh, dry, ground, and cooked cassava), prices received, practices prior to selling and costs, marketing investment and cost, middlemen, marketing channels, and availability of services and facilities (credit, technicalassistance, and associated problems).
