Summary: Se describe la situacion general del cultivo de la yuca en Senegal y se resumen los principales resultados de investigaciones realizadas hasta la fecha sobre constitucion de una coleccion basica, desarrollo de la parte aerea, influencia de la edad fisiologica de las estacas y de su posicion, caracterizacion de var., composicion quimica y valor nutritivo, incidencia del mosaico en el crecimiento y en el rendimiento de la yuca, y mejoramiento genetico. Se presentan conclusiones y recomendaciones sobre seleccion de var. resistentes y empleo de tecnicas culturales apropiadas contra el CAMD y el piojo harinoso, asi como medidas de control biologico y contra la sequia. (CIAT)Summary: The general situation of cassava cultivation in Senegal is described and the main results are given of research carried out to date on the establishment of a basic collection, development of the aerial part, influence of physiological age of cuttings and their position, characterization of var., chemical composition and nutritive value, incidence of mosaic on cassava growth and yield, and genetic improvement. Conclusions and recommendations are given regarding the selection of resistant var. and the use of appropriate cultural techniques for the control of CAMD and mealybugs, as well as biological control measures and measures against drought.
