Summary: Se realizo un ensayo en la Granja San Pedro Alejandrino, Santa Marta, Colombia, para 1) estudiar la asociacion maiz-frijol en diferentes dosis de fertilizantes, 2) seleccionar la combinacion mas adecuada para obtener mayor produccion y 3) determinar el aporte de N de la leguminosa al suelo. Se utilizaron 2 distancias de siembra (0.70 y 1 m), 4 relaciones de asociacion frijol-maiz (1:2; 2:2; 2:3 y 3:2) y 3 niveles de N (0, 45 y 65 kg/ha) con 40 kg de P y de K/ha. Se realizaron todas las practicas culturales. No se observaron respuestas a la aplicacion de N. La mejor produccion para frijol (654, 761 kg/ha) se obtuvo con una distancia de siembra de 1 m, una relacion frijol-maiz 2:2 sin la aplicacion de N/ha.
