Metodo de recoleccion, transporte y establecimiento de Polistes erythrocephalus (L tr.)

Se presenta un metodo para el establecimiento de colonias de Polistes erythrocephalus en cercanias de los cultivos de yuca para control de Erinnyis ello. Se incluye la lista de materiales necesarios. Para la recoleccion de los nidos (5:30 pm en adelante) se necesita un adecuado traje para la labor. Los nidos y las avispas se introducen en bolsas de plastico infladas, las cuales se sellan. Luego el nido se extrae cuidadosamente de la bolsa, presionando suavemente el pedunculo con la mano; al mismo tiempo se inyecta CO2 en la bolsa para dormir a las avispas y ponerlas en frascos de cristal. Los nidos y los frascos se marcan y se transportan hacia casetas, estos ultimos en termos de Icopor con hielo. A method is given for establishing Polistes erythrocephalus colonies near cassava crops to control Erinnyis ello. Materials needed are listed. An appropriate work outfit is required for the collection of nests (5:30 pm on). Nests and wasps are introduced into inflated plastic bags which are then sealed. The nest is carefully forced out of the bag by softly pressing the peduncle with the hand; at the same time CO2 is injected into the bag to still the wasps and put them into glass jars. The nests and jars are labeled and transported to huts, the latter being transported in iced thermos bottles made of Icopor.
