Trials conducted with 16 cassava cv. in Padre Bernardo and Planaltina, Brazil, indicated that at the 1st site 8 cv. had higher root wt. than the local check, whereas at the 2nd site, only IAC 12- 829 outweighed the check. Root and aerial part yields were higher in Padre Bernardo (av. 11.47 and 18.69 t/ha, resp., vs. 6.52 and 6.35 t/ha, resp., for Planaltina), probably due to better soil fertility and higher temp. Roots of cv. EAB-676 and Pirassununga had the highest starch contents (both 31 percent) in Padre Bernardo and IAC 12-829 and clone CPAC-111 in Planaltina (both 29 percent). (CIAT) eng
