In: In: Michigan State University. Agricultural Experiment Station. (CIAT)Summary: The different crosses carried out with navy, black, and kidney beans to search for resistance to the alpha, beta, delta, and gamma races of Colletotrichum lindemuthianum are briefly described and analyzed. Recent testing of San Fernando (black seed) and NEP-2 (white seed) has indicated that these cv. are resistant to beta, gamma, and delta races, but susceptible to the alpha race. Most of the current architypes having San Fernando or NEP-2 in their parentage show the same type of reaction. Once breeding lines with desirable reactions to the alpha, beta, gamma, and delta races are obtained, the genetic source of their resistance could be identified. (CIAT)
