En este manual se describen el dano causado y las medidas de control para los siguientes problemas que afectan la yuca: 1) enfermedades (anublo bacterial, pudricion bacterial del tallo, mosaico africano, mosaico comun, mosaico de las nervaduras, superbrotamiento, mancha parda, anublo pardo fungoso, mancha blanca, mancha de anillos circulares, superalargamiento, ceniza de la yuca, antracnosis, roya, pudriciones radicales posteriores a la cosecha). 2) Plagas (acaros, trips, gusano cachon, mosca del cogollo, mosca de la fruta, mosca blanca, chizas blancas, gusanos trozadores, barrendores del tallo, insectos escamas, chinches de encaje, comejenes, hormigas cortadoras de hojas, mosca de las agallas). 3) Deficiencias y toxicidades nutricionales (N,P,K,Mg, S, Zn, Cu, Fe, Mn, B, salinidad y alcalinidad). 4) Danos causados por herbicidas (diuron, 2,4-D o 2,4,5,-T, paraquat, butilate, atrazina). Al final se incluye una clave para identificar las principales enfermedades y plagas. Cada uno de los problemas esta ilustrado con fotografias a color. (CIAT)
A description is given of the damage caused and the control measures used to eradicate the following problems of cassava: (1) Diseases (bacterial blight, bacterial stem rot, African mosaic, leaf vein mosaic, witches'broom, brown leaf spot, blight leaf spot, white leaf spot, concentric ring leaf spot, superelongation, cassava ash, anthracnose, rust, stem rot, infected propagating material and different root rots). (2) Pests (mites, thrips, hornworms, shoot flies, whiteflies, white grubs, cutworms, stemborers, scale insects, lace bugs, termites, leaf-cutting ants, gall midges). (3) Nutritional deficiencies and toxicities (N, P, K, Mg, S, Zn, Cu, Fe, Mn, B, salinity and alkalinity). (4) Damage caused by herbicides (diuron, 2,4-D or 2,4,5-T, paraquat, butylate and atrazine). Finally, a key for identifying cassava pests and diseases is included. Color photographs illustrate each of the problems. (CIAT)
