Tradicionalmente la investigacion en la agricultura de productos de consumo ha estado orientado hacia la produccion. Un sistema integrado que combina analisis de produccion, utilizacion, mercadeo y consumo puede identificar mejor las limitaciones, sirviendo asi mismo para colocar en la mira opciones especificas de investigacion. En este documento, la aplicacion de este sistema integrado es analizada para el caso de yuca fresca conservada, desarrollada por el "Proyecto Integrado de Yuca". Muestra tambien que los aspectos de investigacion por el lado de la demanda juegan un papel grande en esta metodologia. Se ha dado enfasis a los analisis de preferencias del consumidor. Presentar aproximacion conceptual y desarrollar un modelo para analizar preferencias del consumidor para aceptacion de nuevos productos a base de yuca. (RA)
Agricultural research on consumer goods has traditionally been oriented towards production. An integrated system that combines the analyses of production, utilization, marketing, and consumption can better identify constraints; furthermore, specific research priorities can be detected. The application of this integrated approach to fresh cassava conservation, as carried out by integrated cassava projects in Colombia, was analyzed. Research on demand was shown to play an important role in this methodology. Emphasis was placed on the analysis of consumer preferences. The conceptual approach is presented and a model developed to analyze consumer attitudes towards accepting new cassava-based products. (AS-CIAT)
