In: Revista de Investigacion (Colombia)Summary: Se demostro que mediante el cultivo in vitro de anteras de la yuca, conteniendo microsporas en el estadio uni-nucleado temprano, se puede cambiar la ontogenia normal del grano de polen para embarcarlo en un proceso de androgenesis, el cual consistio en la proliferacion celular de las microsporas para formar callos en las que se diferencian raices. Estimaciones del complemento cromosomico de estas raices indicaron la reduccion del no. de cromosomas a la mitad. Se observo, como se esperaba, un efecto marcado del genotipo, asi como de las anteras de cada boton floral dentro de cada var. para la induccion de callos, pero la respuesta final de cada antera depende de su interaccion con el medio de cultivo. Se recomienda la continuacion de estos estudios para perfeccionar los metodos que permitan la obtencion de materiales haploides para su incorporacion dentro de estrategias especificas del mejoramiento genetico de la yuca. (RA)Summary: It was demonstrated that through in vitro anther culture of cassava, containing microspores in the early uninuclear stage, the normal ontogeny of pollen grains can be shifted to a process of androgenesis, which consists of the meiosis of the microspores to form callus from which roots are derived. Estimations of the chromosomic complement of these roots indicated that the no. of the chromosomes was reduced in half. A marked genotypic effect was observed as expected, as well as that of each flower bud within each var., for callus induction but the final response of each anther depends on its interaction with the culture medium. Studies should be conducted to improve methods that allow the incorporation of haploids into specific cassava breeding strategies. (AS-CIAT)
