Se realizo un expt. de campo en un suelo Latosol Rojo Oscuro, fase cerrado, en Curvelo (Minas Gerais, Brasil) para estudiar los efectos de cal y Zn a 4 niveles de aplicacion en yuca cv. Branca de Santa Catarina. Se obtuvo una significativa respuesta en el rendimiento con el tratamiento que incluia la aplicacion de cal y sulfato de Zn a 1.0 t y 7.5 kg/ha, resp. Este tratamiento produjo el mejor rendimiento (16.75 t/ha) superando al testigo (14.51 t/ha). El suelo recibio fertilizacion basica solamente durante el primer ano y se obtuvieron 2 cosechas. A field expt. was conducted in a Dark Red Latosol, cerrado phase, in Curvelo (Minas Gerais, Brazil) to study the effects of lime and Zn applied at 4 levels on cassava cv. Branca de Santa Catarina. Significant yield response was obtained for the treatment where lime and Zn sulfate were applied at 1.0 t and 7.5 kg/ha, resp. The highest root yield (16.75 t/ha) was obtained with this treatment, surpassing the control (14.51 t/ha). The soil received a basic fertilization only during the 1st yr and 2 harvests were possible.
