Se realizo un expt. de campo en un oxisol (Curvelos, Brasil) para evaluar los efectos de k (60, 120 y 180 kg/ha), cal (0, 1 y 2 t de caliza calcitica/ha), Zn (5 kg/ha) y B (1.5 kg/ha) en la produccion de raices y parte aerea de la yuca y en las propiedades quimicas del suelo. El Zn aumento la produccion de raices solamente en la primera cosecha y no tuvo efecto residual. La aplicacion de B ademas de Zn no afecto la produccion de raices, y el encalamiento o la aplicacion de K no aumento el rendimiento. El encalamiento aumento los valores de pH y el contenido de Ca y redujo el contenido de Al intercambiable en la capa arable. El contenido de Mg en el suelo se redujo por el encalamiento con la aplicacion de 180 kg de K/ha. En suelos con alto nivel de K (103 ppm) la tasa de 60 kg de K/ha mantuvo un adecuado contenido de K (78 ppm) para el cultivo de yuca despues de la primera cosecha. (RA-CIAT) spa
A field expt. was conducted on an Oxisol (Curvelo, Brazil) to evaluate the effects of K (60, 120, and 180 kg/ha), liming (0, 1, and 2 t calcitic limestone/ha), Zn (5 kg/ha), and B (1.5 kg/ha) on cassava root and aerial part production and soil chemical properties. Zn increased root production only in the 1st harvest and had no residual effect. Root production was not affected by applying B in addition to Zn, and the yield was not increased by liming or K application. Liming increased pH values and Ca contents and reduced exchangeable Al in the arable layer. Soil MG content was reduced by liming with application of 180 kg K/ha. In soils with a high K level (103 ppm) the 60 kg K/ha rate maintained an adequate K content (78 ppm) for cassava cultivation after the 1st harvest. (AS) eng
