Se evaluaron 10 cv. de yuca (Sonora, Branca de Santa Catarina, Mantiqueira, Mico, Engana Ladrao, IAC-1418, Guaxupe, Riqueza, Iracema e IAC-12829) por las caracteristicas nutricionales de sus hojas y del tercio superior de su dosel para la produccion de heno. Se recolectaron las partes aereas de plantas de 12 meses de edad, y se determinaron los contenidos de vitamina C total, beta-caroteno, proteina, Ca, P y Fe. Se encontraron mayores contenidos de proteina, vitamina C total, beta-caroteno y P en el heno de las hojas, y mayores contenidos de Ca y Fe en el heno del tercio superior del dosel. La composicion mineral y vitaminica del heno de las hojas y del tercio superior del dosel variaron entre los diferentes cv.; estos henos fueron considerados como una de las mejores fuentes vegetales de vitamina C, beta-caroteno y minerales (Ca, Fe y P). Ten cassava cv. (Sonora, Branca de Santa Catarina, Mantiqueira, Mico, Engana Ladrao, IAC-1418, Guaxupe, Riqueza, Iracema, and IAC- 12829) were assessed for the nutritional characteristics of leaves and the upper 3rd of the canopy for hay production. Aerial parts of 12-mo.-old plants were collected, and the total vitamin C, beta- carotene, protein, Ca, P, and Fe contents were determined. The hay from leaves had higher protein, total vitamin C, beta-carotene, and P contents, while that from the upper 3rd of the canopy had higher Ca and Fe contents. The mineral and vitamin composition of hay from leaves and the upper 3rd of the canopy differed among the different cv.; the hays were considered as one of the best vegetable sources of vitamin C, beta-carotene, and minerals (Ca, Fe, and P).
