In: Revista Brasileira de MandiocaSummary: Yield and total C vitamin and beta carotene contents of leaves, apical 1/3 and the bottom 2/3 of aerial part hays were determined in 3 cassava cv. harvested at 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19 mo. after planting, with the objective to select the best harvesting time and cv. for hay production. It was concluded that a) the leaves, apical 1/3 and bottom 2/3 of aerial parts yield values increased with plant age; b) aerial part hays presented the best total C vitamin and beta carotene contents at 15 or 19 mo. after planting; c) leaves, apical 1/3 and bottom 2/3 hays can be considered as one of best vegetable source of C vitamin; d) the leaves and apical 1/3 hays presented elevated contents of beta carotene.
