Se libero Phaseolus vulgaris cv. Cahone para la produccion en condiciones sin riego en la Cuenca del San Juan de Colorado y Utah (EE.UU.). Durante 4 anos de evaluacion, el rendimiento fue un 13 por ciento mas que el de San Juan Select, el principal cv. de la region. El cv. Cahone se selecciono de la generacion F4 de un cruzamiento de Yellow Jacket, un tipo divergente encontrado en San Juan Select, caracterizado por el patron en forma de mosaico de su semilla, y de 3526, una seleccion de una poblacion masal derivada del cruzamiento de UI111 y A56244. El cv. Cahone tiene un habito que va de trepador a semitrepador y es resistente a las cepas del BCMV New York 15 y la correspondiente a la cepa tipo; tambien es resistente a Fusarium solani f. sp. phaseoli. Phaseolus vulgaris cv. Cahone was released for production under nonirrigated conditions in the San Juan Basin of Colorado and Utah (USA). In 4 yr of testing, it yielded 13 Percent more than San Juan Select, the principal cv.in the region. Cahone was selected from the F4 of a cross of Yellow Jacket, an off-type found in San Juan Select characterized by mosaic seed patterning, and 3526, a selection from a bulk population derived from crossing UI111 and A56244. Cahone has a climbing to semiclimbing habit and is resistant to the type strain and the New York 15 strain of BCMV and to Fusarium solani f. sp. phaseoli. (Field Crop Abstracts) eng
