Es un tipo de frijol pinto semivoluble con una maduracion similar a la de UI114. Es mas vigoroso y mas erecto que UI114. Las semillas son mas pequenas, mas oscuras y mas redondas que las de UI114. Olathe es resistente a muchas razas de Uromyces phaseoli var. typica, a las cepas type y New York 15 del BCMV y al virus del apice rizado. Su comportamiento fue tan bueno como el de las var. de mayores rendimientos en pruebas realizadas en los EE.UU. y fue superior en sitios donde la roya afecto los rendimientos. It is sturdier and more upright than UI114. Seeds are smaller, darker, and rounder than those of UI114. Olathe is resistant to many races of Uromyces phaseoli var. typica, to the type and New York 15 strains of BCMV, and to curly top virus.
