(RA-CIAT) spa
Resistance to a necrotic strain of BYMV (BYMV-N) and to a severe bean strain of tobacco ring spot virus (TRSV-S) in Phaseolus vulgaris cv. Kentwood was found to be conditioned by independent single recessive genes, both derived from Clipper, a parent of Kentwood. The determination was made by inoculating F1 and F2 progeny, reciprocal F1 backcrosses, and F2 families with each virus separately. Independence of the genes for resistance was determined by consecutive inoculations of F2 seedlings. (AS) eng
