Plantas de Phaseolus vulgaris L. (var. Jamapa), de 10 dias fueron sometidas a diferentes concentraciones de SO2 para estudiar el efecto de dicho contaminante de la atmosfera, sobre las caracteristicas morfologicas y de coloracion de las hojas primarias; el efecto sobre la fotosintesis neta a diferentes periodos de tiempo despues del tratamiento (0.24 y 48 h despues) y sobre el peso fresco 3 dias despues del tratamiento. Para estas concentraciones altas y este corto tiempo de exposicion se produjo un amplio rango de danos. Se obtuvieron cambios apreciables en los parametros estudiados a medida que se aumentaba la concentracion. se reduce significativamente y sucede lo mismo con el peso fresco. spa
Ten-day-old black bean plants (var. Jamapa) were exposed to different concentrations (5.6, 14, 28 and 42 ppm) of SO2 for 1 h to determine the effect of this atmospheric contaminant on the morphological characteristics and coloration of the primary leaves; on net photosynthesis at different periods of time (0, 24 and 48 h after treatment); and on fresh wt 3 days after treatment. At these high concentrations and short exposure time, a wide range of damage was produced. Appreciable changes were obtained for all parameters studied as the concentration increased.
