El metodo mas efectivo y promisorio para el control de esta plaga resulto ser la siembra de Crotalaria juncea en asociacion con yuca, aunque los rendimientos de esta ultima se redujeron como consecuencia del efecto competitivo de la leguminosa. Se sugiere el empleo de este control cultural y de var. amargas en programas de manejo integrado de plagas de la yuca. (low HCN content) such as CMC 40 instead of bitter var. (high HCN content) such as M Col 1684. The monthly or bimonthly application of dimethoate (2 cubic centimeters a.i./liter water) significantly reduced the incidence of C. bergi attacks; however, the use of insecticides is not recommended in cassava for economic and ecological reasons. The most promising and effective control measure for this pest is the intercropping of cassava with Crotalaria juncea, although cassava yields were reduced due to the competitive effects of the legume. The use of this cultural method and bitter var. in integrated pest management programs is suggested. (CIAT)
