Para el primer objetivo, se capturaron adultos durante los anos de 1986 y 1987 en Huimanguillo, Tabasco, Mexico, mediante trampas de luz negra y se realizaron muestreos de larvas en campo. Para obtener el ciclo biologico, se realizaron dos ensayos, iniciando en cada caso con 50 huevos hasta alcanzar el estado adulto. Los resultados indican que los periodos de alta temperatura favorecen el desarrollo de la poblacion de E. ello. La poblacion pasa por tres fases: en una se mantiene en su densidad mas baja, existe un periodo de incremento poblacional y otro de maxima densidad que produce defoliaciones y dano economico. El ciclo biologico del insecto fue de 28.9 dias a 28.9 grados C y 76.2 por ciento de HR, mientras que a 25.3 grados C y 80.7 por ciento de HR se desarrollo en 30.8 dias. For the first objetive adults were capturated during 1986 and 1987, at Huimanguillo, Tabasco, Mexico. A black light trap was used for this purpose and field samples were collected. Two trials were realized to obtain the biologic cycle beginning with 50 eggs in each case until they reached the adult status. The results indicated that in the high temperature periods, the development of E. ello population was favoured. The population has three phases. In the first of them, the density is low, then an increased population period follows and the last corresponds to a maximum population density which produced leaves losses and economic damage. The biological cycle last 28.9 days at 28.9 degrees Celsius and 76.2 percent of relative humidity while at 25.3 degrees Celsius and 80.7 percent of relative humidity the development occurred in 30.8 days.
