The durations of the different development stages, oviposition period and longevity of adult were shorter at 30 degrees C than at 20 degrees C. At 20 degrees C, more females than males were produced but the emerged females failed to copulate or to lay eggs. Results proved that 25 degrees C seems to be the most favourable temperature for development. Food plants i.e. beans, broad bean, cabbage, citrus, cotton, okra, peas, squash and tomato were accepted as food. Cotton and citrus leaves were only accepted by adults, they retarded growth and were accompanied by a high mortality among the nymphal instars. The effect of the former food plants on the biology of this insect was discussed.
