La forma de onda corta, posiblemente monomera, de la clorofila con max. absorcion a 666 nm no es sensible a la exposicion breve a los iones de H. (RA-CIAT); The authors have investigated the influence of exposure to the brief action of a high concentration of hydrogen ions on the low temperature absorption and fluorescence spectra of the chloroplasts. It is shown that such exposure produces a reversible shortwave shift in the bands of the forms of chlorophyll a and b forming part of the light-collecting complex (absorption maxima 647, 660, 676 nm) and also the longwave wide band (absorption in the region 710 and fluorescence at 735 nm). A shortwave shift in the absorption bands of the carotenoids (in the region 480-520 nm) is simultaneously observed similar to the photo-induced electrochromic shift but of opposite sign. It has been established that the interaction with hydrogen ions of the longwave forms of chlorophyll a (absorption maxima 682, 690 and 696 nm and fluorescence maxima at 685 and 696 nm) specific for the photosystems II and I leads to their irreversible bleaching. It is shown that the shortwave, possibly monomer, form of chlorophyll with absorption maximum at 666 nm is not sensitive to brief exposure to hydrogen ions. (AS) ER -
