(CIAT)
Aspects on interspecific hybridization between common and tepary beans are discussed; the interspecific hybridization in beans is compared with that of the wheat group, extensively used in plant breeding for interspecific hybridization studies . This interspecific cross in Phaseolus is of particular interest since the tepary bean is a source of resistance to common bacterial blight, leafhopper, charcoal rot, drought, and heat. (CIAT)
