La variedad de habichuela Tendercrop se cultivo en arena de cuarzo con solucion nutritiva a diferentes niveles de Ca obtenido de diversas fuentes. Los tratamientos con CaSO4 produjeron mas vainas, un mayor peso/vaina y un mayor peso de vaina/planta que los tratamientos similares con CaCl2. La concentracion de Ca en las vainas aumento cuando se elevo el nivel de Ca en la solucion nutritiva. Los mayores niveles de Ca en las soluciones nutritivas produjeron vainas mas firmes para el enlatado las cuales presentaban menos tendencia al desprendimiento de la piel y al cuarteado que las vainas producidas en los tratamientos con bajos niveles de Ca. Tendercrop french beans were grown in quartz sand with nutrient solution supplying Ca at different levels and from different sources. Treatments with CaSO4 produced more pods, greater weight/pod and a greater weight of pods/plant than similar treatments with CaCl2. The Ca concentration in bean pods was increased when the Ca level in the nutrient solution was raised.
