Quince selecciones de progenies, incluidas en un ensayo de evaluacion preliminar con 2 repeticiones en un diseno de bloques al azar (var. H-2304 como testigo) se cosecharon a los 9.5 meses. Los parametros de evaluacion fueron el tipo de planta, el habito de ramificacion, el no. y el peso de las raices, el peso de la parte vegetativa, el tamano, el color de la cascara y de la corteza, como tambien la calidad culinaria de las raices. La var. S137-20 supero en rendimiento a todas las demas y la var. S-82 alcanzo el mayor IC. En un ensayo de hileras se incluyeron 34 selecciones de plantulas, en un diseno aumentado donde se utilizo la var. H-2304 como testigo. Con base en el mayor rendimiento de raices, la forma, la calidad culinaria y el mayor IC, se seleccionaron 14 var.; de estas 78-26 y 78-12 superaron los rendimientos del testigo. (CIAT) spa
Fifteen progeny selections, included in a preliminary evaluation trial with 2 replications in a randomized block design with var. H-2304 as control, were harvested at 9.5 mo. Evaluation parameters were plant type, branching habit, root no. and wt., wt. of vegetative part, size, color of skin and rind, and cooking quality of the roots. S137-20 was superior in yield to all other var. and S-82 gave the highest HI. Thirty-four seedling selections were included in a row trial in augmented design with H-2304 as control. On the basis of higher root yield, shape, cooking quality, and higher HI, 14 selections were made; of these, 78-26 and 78-12 gave higher yields than the control. (CIAT) eng
