El valor nutritivo del forraje de yuca fue determinado con 6 ovinos en jaulas de metabolismo en un diseño totalmente aleatorizado en los animales. El forraje se cosechó a los 60, 90 y 135 días en ambas épocas del año. El contenido de proteina disminuyó con la edad y varió de 9,5 a 27 por ciento. Los valores de digestibilidad de la proteina bruta más elevados se alcanzaron a los 90 días de edad (65,9-81,2 por ciento). La energía metabolizable estuvo poco afectada por la edad y la época y osciló de 8,20 a 9,67 Mj/kg MS; mientras que el contenido de proteina bruta digestible presentó los valores más altos en las edades jóvenes y en la época de seca (162,0-137,9 g/kg MS). Los mejores consumos de proteina bruta digestible (5,99-8,91 g/kg P(0,75)) y de energía metabolizable (470,4-541,5 Kj/kg P(0,75)) se alcanzaron entre los 60 y 90 días de edad de cosecha en ambas épocas del año. |

Six wethers situated in metabolism cages were used in a complete randomized design in order to determine the nutritive value of cassava forage (Manihot esculenta). Cassava fork was harvested after 60, 90 and 135 days in both (wet-dry) seasons. Protein content decrease with the age and varied from 9,5 to 27 percent. The higher values of crude protein digestibility were found after 80 days of age (65,9-81,2 percent). Metabolizable energy was scarcely affected by age or season and ranged from 8,20 to 9,67 Mj/DM kg. The highest values of digestible crude protein content were found at early ages and during the dry season (162,0-137,9 g/DM kg). The best digestible crude protein (5,99-8,91 g/kg P(0,75)) and metabolizable enerqy (470,4-541,5 Kj/kg P(0,75)) intakes were found after 60 and 90 days of harvesting age in both seasons. |
